What is a Hall of Heroes Championship event?
Championships are the premier tournament events at The Hall of Heroes. They celebrate the three pillars of table-top wargaming: competitive game-play, the art of the hobby, and a culture of sportsmanship. Participants take part in monthly tournaments where they can score points in each of these categories. Prizes are awarded each tournament to the best performers in each area, however, the grand prize is reserved for the person who accrues the most points across all areas over the course of the season - The Grand Champion.
How does it work?
Every month, participants may score up to 100 Championship Points in each category: Game-play, Hobby, Sportsmanship, based on the rank they achieve for each. In this ways every player scores some points as long as they take part.
Game-play: In each tournament round (month) participants play two games against different opponents. Standard tournament rules are used to determine the usual in-game victory points for things like objectives, etc., with additional bonuses for the overall game result. These points are used to determine a game-play ranking for each player and Championship Points are awarded proportionally based on those rankings.
Hobby: During the lunch break each player may nominate one character, unit or monster/vehicle for judging. This must be a model they have converted/painted themselves and cannot have been judged in any previous round of the Championship. The Judge will rank each entry and award Championship Points accordingly.
Sportsmanship: At the end of each game, players complete a quick questionnaire to rate their opponent on six key elements of sportsmanship. These are compiled by the tournament organiser to rank each player and award proportional Championship Points.
At the completion of the tournament the total score of all Championship Point accrued that round (maximum 300) is added to the players score for the season and the leader-board is updated.
What are the rewards?
At the end of each tournament the top ranking player(s) in each category are awarded Hall of Heroes Prize Vouchers, which they can redeem on any purchase. The exact number of winners in each category, and the value of each voucher, is determined by the number of entrants.
The major prizes are awarded at the end of the season, at HeroFest. The player with the highest overall Championship Points score is crowned the Grand Champion for the year. Their name is inscribed on the perpetual Championship Trophy, they receive a (substantial) Hall of Heroes Prize Voucher, and their Shield Bearer Membership Discount is doubled for 12 months! A number Prize Vouchers may also be awarded for runner-up placings, depending on the total number of participants throughout the season.

Converted Models/Units
Many players “scratch build” or heavily convert elements of their model collection, and these activities are a hallowed part of Warhammer hobby history. For the sake of fairness, any conversion should be comparable in size to the most current version of the model they represent. You may not gain a benefit from converted models, but may incur penalties.
We also ask that 3D prints of Warhammer miniatures are not used, so we are not breaching any of the contractual obligations we have.
